Reservoir dams usually have fishways for fish to pass upstream and downstream. Fishways are usually divided into downstream section, upstream section, and culvert section. Among them, the downstream section usually adopts a "U" shaped cross-section design, while the culvert section is designed as a door-shaped structure. For the entire fishway, its main body is formed by reinforced concrete pouring, and the pouring body will be segmented, and then rubber waterstops are used between each segment for waterproofing.

And geomembrane, as a low-permeability anti-seepage material, has significant characteristics such as convenient construction and low cost, and has also been widely used in existing water conservancy projects. In reservoir applications, geomembrane, as the anti-seepage layer of fishways, can play an ideal role.

The laying of geomembrane in fishways usually involves two layers. If the entire laying process is exemplified, it is roughly divided into: earth-rock layer - geomembrane layer - fine sand layer - geomembrane layer - sand graded gravel transition layer - gabion mesh cage, these several construction and backfill processes. The main role of geomembrane in it is waterproofing, and laying twice can play a role in anti-seepage reinforcement.

In our common water conservancy projects, geomembrane is already a very common anti-seepage material, and also a material with relatively simple construction. When carrying out anti-seepage construction, we can buy our own machine for welding, or find professional technicians for welding. But this still depends on the actual situation, because people without welding experience cannot guarantee the quality of the entire welding process. In addition to the welding technology itself, geomembrane welding also requires the ability to repair damaged positions of geomembrane, and also requires the ability to cut and lay according to the on-site construction terrain conditions to achieve a better anti-seepage effect.
