Cable Trays Applied in Food Enterprises

As a food company, the industry part of the food chain program includes the steps of transportation, receiving, storage, processing and preservation. The raw materials of the industry mainly come from plants (agriculture) and animals (livestock). The development of the industry benefits from the progress of food science and technology. In countries trying to control and coordinate processes and products, the growth of food production is accompanied by a steady increase in the monitoring and assurance of hygiene and food regulations.

And in the process of facility construction, it is also necessary to use cable trays to protect their facilities.

1. Cleaning and processing areas

Facilities in processing areas must be constructed in a hygienic manner to ensure food safety and eliminate any form of contamination hazard. Cleaning and disinfection should also become easier, as they contribute to the preservation and maintenance of the installation. The materials in cable trays ensure thorough cleaning of the installation, and the surfaces resist contact with food and cleaning agents.

2. Extreme temperature zones

Extreme temperature zones are areas with extremely low temperatures, where the ambient temperature can drop below -20°C and stay there for a long time. Extremely low temperature zones include freezers and cold rooms. It is important to note that the insulation and other protective functions of electrical equipment used in these places must not deteriorate at operating temperatures. Cable trays must be able to withstand the pressure generated by exposure to harsh environments. Therefore, when different areas of internal passages are exposed to extreme temperature changes, such as in cold storage, cable trays must be able to withstand air circulation from the hottest to the coldest areas of the passage without losing their quality.

3. Underground storage areas

Damp places, such as those where floors, ceilings and walls have been or may be saturated with moisture, and where thick water droplets may appear due to sludge or condensation or may be covered with mold for a long time, can enter underground storage facilities.

It is recommended that electrical materials, especially cable management systems, comply with protection when used for terminals, joints and connections, and for systems or equipment with protection ratings corresponding to vertical drops and water spray at these locations.

4. Outdoor storage areas

Outdoor storage locations have a high incidence of climate variables, such as humidity and sunlight, which can cause rapid wear and tear on any goods placed. The use of cable trays in outdoor installations will be defined as level 5 low corrosion resistance, with galvanized layers specifically designed to withstand harsh weather for long periods.

5. Production control areas

The production control area is a room adjacent to or separate from the factory that coordinates all production activities. All signals from machines arrive at this room, where they are processed to create a daily schedule for moving all production activities of the factory. Cable trays will be used indoors, with almost no exposure to external elements that may shorten the service life of the product.

Materials in non-food areas should be made of corrosion-resistant materials or materials treated (coated or painted) to be corrosion-resistant, and these surfaces should also be cleanable. Surface treatment must be completed so that product particles do not get caught in tiny dents that are difficult to remove. Surfaces must be capable of being cleaned and disinfected when necessary. To this end, they must be smooth, continuous or sealed.
