Core Thickness and Dimple Depth
Measure the overall board thickness and the dimple (stud) depth with a caliper. The dimple depth controls the drainage capacity of the board. Boards with shallow dimples may not provide enough flow area for the project requirement.
Filter Fabric Check
Check the geotextile filter layer for tears, gaps or loose bonding. The filter must be firmly attached to the core and cover the full surface. A damaged filter allows soil to enter the drainage channels and clog the system.
Surface and Edge Condition
Inspect the board surface for cracks, broken dimples or deformation. Check the edges for clean cuts that allow proper overlap during installation. Boards with damaged edges are hard to join and may leave gaps in the drainage layer.
Packing and Documentation
Verify the roll or sheet count, packing condition and batch number. The delivery should include the quality certificate and test report. Keep a sample from the batch for reference during installation and future claims.
