In addition, mineral wool can be used for batts suitable for 2×8 frame walls, these are R-30. Glass fiber is not provided in batts for 2×8 stud walls. Relative to glass wool, mineral wool batts are easier to install. You might wonder, "Why are rock wool boards easier to install than glass fiber batts?" It's simple. Glass fiber batts are soft blankets. They must be hung and stapled in place, otherwise they will collapse and leave gaps. Mineral wool is dense and firm, and the friction fits the stud space. Many people usually don't understand this, mineral wool has form; it has a shape. If you pick it up, it won't wrinkle or fold; it maintains its shape, it is a block. This block, when pushed into the wall, can fill the entire wall space, and there are no gaps, no sagging, and more importantly, it doesn't need stapling. And you still need to do more trimming for glass wool, must cut mineral wool to fit the odd-spaced studs and triangular corners that may exist between frame members. However, it is easier to do this with mineral wool. The cutting of mineral wool is different from glass wool. You can actually measure and cut mineral wool to size, just like cutting a large piece of wood. In fact, for carpenters, this is second nature, because as you would expect, they are very good at measuring, then cutting things to fit, and when something has shape and can be understood as a piece of wood, he can cut it with ease.
