Extruded board flame retardant test
The combustion temperature of extruded boards is about 350 degrees Celsius, meaning that as long as this temperature is reached or higher, the extruded board will burn. At present, the use of extruded boards in our country is widespread, and a large part of buildings after 2010 have adopted extruded board external wall insulation technology. Therefore, there are also relevant standards for preventing combustion.
Extruded boards are distinguished by common grades, divided into B1 grade (self-extinguishing away from fire), B2 grade (not easily flammable) and ordinary. When in use, if not encountering a sudden fire source, combustion will almost never occur. But construction sites are always different from daily life. For example, construction operations such as oxygen welding cutting and steel bar welding will encounter high temperature situations. Therefore, more precautions are needed in engineering construction.
In addition to combustion, extruded boards also have another problem when experiencing high temperatures, that is, deformation. Because the material of extruded boards is expanded polystyrene, it is a relatively non-high-temperature resistant material. Usually, as long as the temperature exceeds 80 degrees Celsius, it will shrink and deform. Therefore, for some insulation constructions with higher temperatures, it is not recommended to use extruded boards as insulation materials. For example, water pipe insulation, boiler insulation, and tobacco leaf curing room insulation.
Of course, if the project you are doing needs insulation in a high-temperature environment, then you can consider the material of rock wool board. Compared with extruded boards, it is more resistant to relatively high temperatures.
