Why Use Grass Grid Around Trees
Grass grid rings around tree pits provide a permeable, load-bearing surface that protects tree roots from compaction while allowing water and air to reach the root zone. This is increasingly common in modern urban plazas.
Installation Details
The grid is cut to fit around the tree trunk with a clearance gap. It sits on a compacted gravel base over a geotextile separator. The cells are filled with loam topsoil and seeded, or left open for infiltration.
Tree Health Benefits
Compacted soil around trees reduces oxygen and water penetration. The grid keeps pedestrian and vehicle traffic off the root zone while maintaining a clean, walkable surface.
