Plastic grass grid pavers are a sustainable paving solution for driveways, fire lanes, and parking areas. Proper installation ensures load capacity and long-term grass growth.
Preparation Steps
- Excavate to a depth of 150-200mm depending on traffic load
- Install and compact a 100-150mm crushed stone base layer
- Add a 20mm sand bedding layer for level surface
- Ensure subgrade slopes toward drainage at 1-2% grade
Grid Installation
Start laying grids from a straight edge or corner. The interlocking tabs connect by hand pressure or rubber mallet. Cut edges with a utility knife where needed. Secure perimeter with edge restraints.
Backfilling with Soil and Grass
- Fill grid cells with topsoil mixed with a small amount of sand
- Sow grass seed or lay turf after backfilling
- Water thoroughly and keep moist until grass establishes
Load Capacity Notes
With a properly compacted aggregate base, grass grids support passenger vehicles and occasional truck traffic. Heavy continuous vehicle loads require a thicker aggregate layer.
